I am a climate scientist working across carbon management, policy, communication, and public understanding. My work asks how society can take responsibility for carbon pollution in ways that are scientifically credible, politically practical, and morally serious.
I trained as a paleoclimatologist. This means I study the history of the Earth's climate as recorded in natural archives such as lake mud and tree rings. That's my passion.
I did not start my career thinking about carbon removal, policy, or accounting systems. I started with mud.
As a paleoclimatologist, I studied lake sediments, tree rings, dust, drought, and wildfire records to understand how climate has changed over thousands of years. That training gave me a deep respect for time: how slowly Earth systems respond, how long disturbances can last, and how much the past can teach us about the future.
Over time, my work shifted toward climate mitigation. I became interested not only in what climate change is, but in what responsibility requires once we understand it. That question now sits at the center of my work on carbon management.
But passion is not enough, and duty called. I have pivoted my career towards climate mitigation.
I work on one of the central questions of climate action: how can society take responsibility for the carbon it has released, continues to use, and may need to remove?
My research connects climate science, carbon accounting, policy design, and public engagement. I am especially interested in carbon management systems that are scientifically credible, durable over time, and understandable to the people and institutions expected to use them.

I love school. There. I said it. I love learning and exploring ideas and thinking. Going to university has brought me countless experiences and helped me grow as a person and professional. As a first generation student, I always felt a little lost. In the end, it was the mentors around me and my inner drive that got me through.
My education has taken me across countries, disciplines, and ways of thinking about climate. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences from University College Cork in Ireland, followed by a master’s degree in Climate Science from the University of Bern in Switzerland. I completed my Ph.D. in Climate and Environmental Change at Northern Arizona University, where I studied past climate variability through lake sediments, dust, drought, and wildfire records.
That training still shapes how I approach climate work today. Paleoclimate taught me to think across long timescales, to respect uncertainty, and to look carefully at the evidence nature leaves behind. My current work on carbon management builds from that foundation: understanding climate change not only as a scientific problem, but as a responsibility that unfolds over generations.
